Recently, Yantai OceanBlue Refrigeration Engieering has officially launched two self‑developed core ammonia‑refrigeration water‑chilling equipment: the Ammonia Falling‑Film Chiller and the Ammonia Plate‑Type Chiller with Liquid Separator. Aiming at common pain‑points in food processing, dairy, brewing, chemical process cooling and large cold‑storage supporting applications, they deliver complete water‑chilling solutions featuring low refrigerant charge, high energy efficiency and outstanding reliability for ammonia refrigeration systems.
In industrial refrigeration, ammonia (R717), as a natural eco‑friendly refrigerant, delivers excellent thermodynamic performance. Nevertheless, conventional flooded shell‑and‑tube evaporators suffer from high refrigerant charge, relatively high operating energy consumption and heavy safety‑management pressure. Drawing on years of engineering experience in refrigeration equipment, OceanBlue has developed two differentiated technical routes to suit varying project conditions, covering stable high‑capacity operation as well as flexible medium‑and‑small‑capacity applications.
The Ammonia Falling‑Film Chiller adopts a vertical falling‑film spray evaporation structure. Liquid ammonia is evenly sprayed onto the outer surface of heat‑exchange tube bundles through precision top liquid distributors to form a thin liquid film for heat exchange. Compared with traditional flooded units, it greatly cuts ammonia charge and improves system safety. It achieves small heat‑transfer temperature difference and excellent overall COP. Well‑suited for large‑scale central cold‑water supply in large factories with stable heat loads, the unit features wide water‑side flow channels for good resistance to water‑borne impurities and easy maintenance & cleaning. It is widely applied in large‑scale scenarios such as beer brewing, large‑scale dairy production and chemical cooling.
The Ammonia Plate‑Type Chiller with Liquid Separator innovatively integrates a plate heat exchanger and an ammonia liquid separator unit. Leveraging the high heat‑transfer efficiency of plate heat exchangers and the integrated ammonia‑liquid separation structure, it fundamentally prevents compressor liquid hammer caused by returning liquid ammonia. It requires extremely low ammonia charge and comes with compact footprint. No spray circulation pump is needed, which simplifies maintenance. It performs well under fluctuating heat loads. It can produce process chilled water and also work for low‑temperature glycol applications. Economical selection is available starting from several tens of kilowatts. It fits small‑and‑medium‑sized factories, retrofits of old ammonia systems and projects with limited machine‑room height. Stainless‑steel plates avoid medium contamination risks for food‑grade working conditions.
